MEDICAL COUNCIL OF MAURITIUS
COMMUNIQUÉ
Postgraduate studies in medicine undertaken locally for the purpose of registration as a Specialist.
It has been brought to the attention of the Medical Council that certain doctors are enrolled or wishing to be enrolled LOCALLY for post graduate studies in medicine with the objective of obtaining a membership such as MRCP, MRCOG, MRC(Psych) etc (United Kingdom).
The Medical Council is informing all concerned doctors that such awards will NOT be recognized for the purpose of obtaining registration as a Specialist.
The reason being that these professional bodies have NOT entered into any agreement with the Ministry of Health and Wellness for the use of its hospitals for clinical training. The training if ever given is not supervised by any Senior Specialists or Consultants of the Ministry
