COMMUNIQUE
MEDICAL COUNCIL OF MAURITIUS
MEDICAL REGISTRATION EXAMINATION (MRE)
- Prospective MRE candidates are hereby informed that the forthcoming MRE will be held on 27 August 2025.
- No candidate shall be allowed to appear in the Medical Registration Examination unless:
He possesses a “diploma in Medicine” or equivalent qualification awarded by a recognized medical institution listed in the Medical Council Act 1999 as amended and;
He has completed to the satisfaction of the Medical Council a period of not less than 18 months of Pre- Registration Training. - Candidates are requested to submit two recent passport size photographs and effect a payment of an exact amount of Rs 13,500 in cash to the Medical Council of Mauritius.
- Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstance. Fee should be paid by the applicant to the Medical Council of Mauritius.
- Last date for Receipt of Application Forms is 15 August 2025
- Admit card issued by the Mauritius Examination Syndicate (MES) will mention the examination centre of each MRE Candidate.
- Dispatch of Admit Cards is likely to begin as from 22 August 2025. Candidate should carefully examine the Admit Card and ensure that all the entries made therein are correct. In case of any discrepancy, same shall immediately be brought to notice of the MES
- The Admit Card is not transferable to any other person. Impersonation is a punishable offence under law. CANDIDATES ARE REQUIRED TO BRING THEIR NATIONAL IDENTITY CARD OR PASSPORT ALONG WITH THE ADMIT CARD FOR ENTRY TO THE EXAMINATION CENTRE.
- The examination will consist of one paper of 3 hours duration.
- There will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) of single response type in the paper.
- There will be NO negative marking.
- An applicant shall be declared as having passed the examination only if he/she has obtained a minimum of 75 marks out of a total of 150 marks.
- The Result of the Medical Registration Examination will be affixed on the Notice Board of the Council and uploaded on the website of the MCM.
- There is no provision for re-evaluation/re-totalling.
- Appearance or success in the MRE does not confer any right upon a candidate for seeking registration with MCM.

- Medical Council of Mauritius reserves the absolute right to withdraw the permission, if any, granted inadvertently to any applicant who is not eligible to appear in the MRE.
