NOTICE OF ELECTION OF FOURTEEN (14) MEMBERS
OF THE MEDICAL COUNCIL OF MAURITIUS

Notice is hereby given to all fully registered medical practitioners that the election of fourteen (14) members of the Medical Council of Mauritius [comprising eight members from the public sector, of whom four (4) shall be specialists and four (4) shall be general practitioners; and six (6) members from the private sector, of whom three (3) shall be specialists and three (3) shall be general practitioners] will be conducted by the Office of the Electoral Commissioner on Saturday the twelfth (12^th) day of April 2025; and that the Returning Officer will receive the nomination of candidates for the said election on Saturday the twenty-second (22^th) day of March 2025, between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm at the seat of the Medical Council of Mauritius, One Way Floreal Road, Cité Mangalkhan, Floreal.

Nomination papers may be obtained either from the Registrar, at the seat of the Medical Council of Mauritius at the abovementioned address or from the Health Director, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Creve Coeur, Rodrigues, between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm on working days (excluding Saturdays).

Every nomination paper must be supported and signed by five fully registered medical practitioners and be delivered to the Returning Officer between the said hours of 10 am and 2 pm on 22^nd March 2025.

            Every nomination paper shall specify the name, address and date of registration of the candidate and also contain a declaration by the candidate that:-

• on nomination day he/she is a fully registered medical practitioner specialist and is not otherwise suspended;
• on nomination day he/she reckons at least 15 years’ experience as a medical practitioner in the Republic of Mauritius;
• he/she is a citizen of the Republic of Mauritius;
• he/she is not under investigation for misconduct by the Council; and
• he/she has not been subject to disciplinary sanction by the Council during the 5 years preceding his or her nomination.

Nomination Papers received by post, fax, email or otherwise will not be considered.
